
The Vanuatu Football Federation is in Luganville this week to receive 400 athletes and coaches in the camp from Torba, Penama, Sanma and Luganville, for the National Youth League Championship.
This afternoon VFF President Lambert Maltock and President of Penama Football Association Thomas Tau received 80 athletes from Penama and the competition department and support staff and coaches are arriving in Luganville tomorrow.
The tournament for Northern Region will be played from 25-27 November and the final on the 30th at the Luganville Soccer City Stadium.
At the opening of the youth league in Port Vila last week, President Maltock said the competition will address player scouting and player marketing within and outside of the region.
The VFF Women’s National Team coach Robert Yalou, and Men’s National Team coach Etienne Mermer with Oceania Football Confederation Adviser to VFF Mr. Simon Richards will be in Lugavnille to scout players for the next academy program for future national teams.
Vanuatu will also participate in the 2020 Youth UEFA Promotional Tournament alongside New Caledonia and the idea is part of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) in promoting and strengthening Oceania youth teams for World cup qualifications.

The 4 winners of the Southern Region of about 80 athletes from Tafea, Shefa and Malampa will also be travelling from Port Vila to Santo for the finals of the 2019 National Youth League on the 30th of November at the Luganville Soccer City Stadium.
The Director General of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Mr Henry Vira congratulated VFF for hosting the National Youth Championship and specifically said that soccer is not only a game but is also a revenue flow for both players and the country.
In his opening remarks at the official opening of the VFF National Youth League, DG Henry Vira acknowledged VFF President, who is also the Oceania Football Confederation President, Lambert Maltock and the VFF management for driving such initiative in promoting youth development and women empowerment in soccer throughout Vanuatu.
