All International Matches and Competitions must be authorised

The Oceania Football Confederation made a friendly reminder to the member federations to sought authorization for any match or competition involving teams from more than one confederation or teams from confederation playing on the territory of a different confederation.

The General Secretary of OFC Franck Castillo sent the reminder last week to VFF encouraging the federation and its members to use the FIFA Regulation on governing international matches as a guide to protect the integrity of the game.

The regulation states its purpose is to protect the integrity of the game and the ethics and fair play preventing all methods or practices which might jeopardise the integrity of matches, competitions, players, officials and members, and give rise to abuse of the game.

Castillo pointed out that article 6 (1) states any international matches may only be authorised by FIFA or VFF in accordance with these regulations.

As it stands now, all international matches organised by any Member Association or club must be authorised by VFF if the teams are from more than one confederation or the teams are from another confederation playing in Vanuatu.

OFC also pointed out that teams participating in any international match are responsible for requesting the authorisation in accordance with the timeframes stipulated in the regulations and FIFA and VFF may reject applications not complying with these regulations.
