Port Vila, 21 June 2025 – In front of a vibrant crowd at Freshwater Stadium, ABM Galaxy FC were crowned champions of the 2024/25 VFF Champions League after edging out M3 United FC 2–1 in a dramatic final that lived up to expectations.
The match began with intensity as both teams sought to assert dominance. Galaxy took the lead in the first half with a crucial penalty, confidently converted by star forward Bong Kalo in the 27th minute. The rest of the half saw tight midfield battles and disciplined defending from both sides.
As expected, M3 United came out with renewed energy after the break. Their persistence paid off late in the second half when Kerry Iawak found the equalizer in the 90th minute, sending their supporters into celebration and forcing the game into extra time.
In extra time, Galaxy regrouped and struck back. It was once again Bong Kalo who delivered, scoring the winning goal, securing a brace and solidifying his reputation as one of the tournament’s most clutch performers.
The match saw several bookings as tensions rose: Thomas Maliwan, Alvin Hou, Kailan Gould, and Andrew Malakai were cautioned for Galaxy, while Bill Toata and Kerry Iawak received yellow cards for M3 United.
Head Coach Albert Riera of Galaxy, making key substitutions in extra time, was praised for his tactical foresight—especially the introduction of Micah Andrew and Bong Kalo, who added fresh legs and balance to the midfield.
With this result, ABM Galaxy FC not only take home the national title but also earn the right to represent Vanuatu as Team A in the upcoming OFC Champions League. M3 United FC, the tournament’s runners-up, will enter as Team B, following their solid campaign and spirited final performance.
The match was a celebration of local football at its finest—tight margins, bold plays, and a crowd that lived every second of the action.
