Galaxy hits back at Malampa and claim the super league title

Galaxy Football Club from Port Vila Football Association has claimed the National Super League title after a thrilling 5-0 against opponent and former champions Malampa Revivors from Luganville Football Association

The Port Vila League 2020 Top 4 Champion made no mistakes to convert all the opportunities in front of over 2,000 spectators at Korman Stadium on Saturday 7 November.

Malampa’s first eleven could not stop Kensi Tangis who netted Galaxy’s first goal after 3 minutes in the game and he ran straight to celebrate the goal with Galaxy supporters behind the running track.

In the 25th minutes just before the water break, former Malampa Revivors FC forward Andrew Batick blasted a powerful shot past Julian Malnaim and Kensi again slot another one 4 minutes just before half time to put Galaxy ahead by 3-0 in the first half.

Coming back in the other half of the match, Malampa coach Steven Varegali could not content the situation when he substituted strikers Reginald Ravo and Jean-Claude Batick in the 50th minutes instead they conceded more goals after he failed to reinforce his defence while Moise Poida substituted Galaxy’s backs Ignace Yamack with Nelson Sale and also Diego Maximo.

Poida’s move again payed off after Andre Batick again netted another one against his former team mates in the 58th minutes and again Kensi closed the scoreboard with the final goal in the 68th minutes before former FIFA referee Joel Hopkins blowed the final whistle.

Coach Steven Varegali denied losing his key players to Galaxy as the cause of the defeat, instead he claimed the lose helped them see the gaps and where to work on.

“We came without 3 key players and today we see their space and will go back and work on those gaps before the next Champions League”, he said to VFF media.

The biggest entertaining crowd of the day was orchestrated by Galaxy and the club CEO went to acknowledged their effort on social media.

“I want to thank all clubs and fans around Port Vila who came to support our team in the final today”, he said.

Galaxy was awarded 1 million vatu followed by best coach awarded to Moise Poida and Malampa claimed the best player award through Claude Aru and also a cash prize of 500,000 vatu for runners up while both have qualified as Vanuatu representative to the next Oceania Champion’s League.

Tafea’s LL Echo won the 3rd place with 300,000 vatu and striker John Well Wohale got the top scorer award with 6 goals while Ruerue from Penama Province came 4th with a 100,000 vatu cash prize.
