With the 2025 VFF Champions League final just around the corner, Galaxy FC head coach Albert Reira has shared his thoughts on the team’s preparation and mindset ahead of the clash with M3 United FC.
Speaking to the media, Reira emphasized the even nature of the contest, calling it a “50/50 game.” He noted that finals are often decided by the smallest details, and that keeping players mentally focused and calm would be key to performance. “What’s important is to play as you normally do, without overthinking that it’s a final,” he said.
The coach acknowledged the emotional tension that finals can bring, urging his players to stay grounded and stick to the game plan. He warned that thinking too much about the result can distract from the tactical responsibilities during the game.
Fitness remains a concern for Reira, who admitted he would assess the condition of his players shortly before their final training session. With only 48 hours between matches, he said it was challenging for players to fully recover, and some may not be as fit as they claim.
Reira also praised the VFF Champions League’s organization and the passion for football in Vanuatu, describing the experience as “fantastic.” He said that playing at Fresh Water Stadium brings back strong memories and adds to the excitement of the occasion.
Despite knowing that some fans may not want Galaxy FC to win, Reira remains committed to his supporters. “I know a lot of people want Galaxy to win because we have a lot of supporters,” he said, adding that he hopes to bring the trophy home for them.
As the final approaches, Reira’s blend of tactical discipline and emotional intelligence continues to shape Galaxy FC’s journey on the biggest stage of Vanuatu football.
