After a loss and a draw in their recent matches, the Vanuatu champions Ifira Black Birds find their chances of advancing to the semifinal stage of the 2023 OFC Champions League to be quite narrow.
Coach Jean Robert Yalou acknowledges the team’s challenging position and emphasizes the need to go all out for a victory.
“I am pleased with the boys’ performance, their courage, and determination in our match against AS Pirae,” Coach Yalou stated. “Despite being reduced to ten men, we managed to score two impressive goals and held a promising 2-0 lead before Pirae caught up with us.”
“Given the current circumstances, we must give everything we have in our match against Tiga on Sunday,” he added.
The upcoming clash between Ifira and Tiga at 3 PM on Sunday, May 21, will draw significant attention to key players such as Godine Tenene, John Wohale, Jonathan Spokey, and Jordie Tassip as Ifira strives to keep their semifinal hopes alive.
