IFIRA BLACKBIRD FC SET TO MAKE HISTORIC DEBUT IN OFC CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

Ifira Blackbird FC, one of the oldest clubs in the country, is gearing up for its first-ever appearance in the prestigious OFC Champions League. The team has a rich history of winning championships in the past, and its recent improvements can be attributed to the tremendous support from the local community and the community-owned company Ifira Trustees.

The club boasts a legacy of notable players who have represented the country, including Nato Taiwia, Seratangi Kalsakau, Kalpovi Mangawai, and many others. Notably, former player Kalman Kiri even became the first President of the Vanuatu Football Federation (VFF).

With experienced players who have featured in international football and the recent success in the MSG Prime Minister’s Cup, Ifira Blackbird FC enters the tournament with high hopes. Having the advantage of playing on their home ground, they aim to capitalize on this opportunity while Vanuatu serves as the host nation for the OFC Tournament.

To further strengthen their chances, the team has enlisted the expertise of Vanuatu National Women’s Coach Robert Yelou, who will be coaching Ifira Blackbird FC with the support of VFF. Coach Yelou has already shown his prowess by leading the team to victory in local competitions.

Participating in the OFC Champions League is a significant milestone for Ifira Blackbird FC, as it provides an opportunity to solidify its position and showcase its talent against the best clubs in Oceania. The team and football fans alike extend their best wishes to Ifira Blackbird FC and eagerly anticipate the support of everyone as they embark on this exciting journey.
