Ken attending the OFC MA goalkeeping instructors course in Auckland

The Mauriki Football Club goalkeeper Ken Esiko is in Auckland this week attending the OFC MA goalkeeping instructors course led by OFC Goalkeeper Development Consultant James Bannatyne at the Oceania Football Confederation Academy.
.
Ken aims to become a goalkeeper instructor and will join other pool of Vanuatu Football Federation instructors assisting local clubs, MAs and national team coaches arming goalies to guard their box.

OFC is conducting the course with ten participating coaches as part its football development strategic plan 2019 – 2022 and Ken will be attending the course in Auckland from 26 to 28 November.

“I just started as a goalkeeper coach and the course helps me a lot and as the coach responsible for the National Women’s U16 and Men’s U16 team”, ken said.

Ken was one of the goalkeeper coaches that attended the OFC MA goalkeepers coaching course in Port Vila last week and this week he is in Auckland for the instructor course.

“I am really happy since day 1 of the course and I have learnt a lot especially with the practical sessions with James it really motivates me to develop young goalkeepers back home”.

The OFC Goalkeeper Development Consultant believes there is plenty of room for improvement in the area of goalkeeping in Oceania and he is thrilled to provide the participants with both practical and theoretical knowledge that will help them when they return home.

“This is a big part in helping the MA representatives to go back with a toolkit that they can use to educate goalkeeping coaches in their own environment, Bannatyne explained in a video posted by OFC.

Bannatyne insists this is just the first step on the road towards OFC’s extensive strategic vision for the future.

“This is really the start of a big project for goalkeeping as we are working towards OFC’s Football Development Strategy with 2026 in mind and the 1.5 World Cup places available for Oceania football.
