“I was looking at the under 20 soccer games just recently and let me confirm that we have stars but what are we going to do with them when we have no programmes for them to be processed through”, he said to Daily Post.
“I want to develop grassroots in sports to be able to host their sports event on a regular basis either every year or every ten years”.
“We could host the games through every 72 Area Councils to provide an opportunity for everyone to benefit from the games”.
“Divide Vt100 million between 72 Area Councils then look at the cost of one life that the Government has to deal with youths, what is Vt72 million compared to the problem that you have?”, he said.
According to Finance and Treasury report the Ministry responsible for Youth & Sport has the smallest budget of all the government ministries, for instance in 2018 Vt181.2 million was appropriated by parliament to MoYSD from a Vt43 billion budget.
