Vanuatu football has awarded the contract to build the new Freswota Stadium to Ninane Construction and Atom Limited, a joint-venture owned by ni-Vanuatu constructors Simon Salro and Sandrino today July 28.

This week Vanuatu is about to reach its 40 years of independence and the signing is a historical moment that could be seen as first ever of this magnitude funded by FIFA worth over 400 Million Vatu.

The signing today at the Grand Hotel between VFF and Ninane and Atom construction group was made in the presence of Vanuatu Minister of Youth and Sports Development Honorable Willie Pakoa Satearoto and the Mayor of Port Vila City Erick Puyo-festa, MP Ralph Regenvanu, the Director General Henry Vira and Director Henry Tavoa from the Youth and Sports Development, Harold Qualao and the Qualao Consulting Limited (QCL) Engineers.

The Freswota Stadium project went through one of the delicate bidding process done locally by VFF and QCL engineers led by Project Manager Alick Terry and most of the decisions were based on FIFA prerequisite and today it has finally concluded and also marks the third and final phase of the Freswota Stadium construction.

The first and second phase of the project was done by PTS Cleaning and Building Enterprise owned by local entrepreneur Graham Demas under the scope to prepare the terrain which also involves planting of imported grass from Australia.

The football field has been planted with sports oval grass mix imported from Australia and is surrounded on all sides by drainage trenches to ensure a good playing experience in wet weather conditions.

The final component of the stadium to be constructed by Ninane/Atom joint-venture will also include lights to allow for the playing of night matches.

The infrastructure includes a grand stand, ticket house, tool shed and two spectator stand with all architectural and engineering design tasks to date are done and supervised by Qualao Consulting Limited who has gained a strong foothold in the engineering industry in Vanuatu after 28 years.
