OFC Introduces VAR to VFF: A Step Forward for Oceania Football

group photoMihaly Fabian, OFC VAR Project Manager, visited Fresh Water Stadium on October 14th to introduce the VAR system to VFF referees and personnel.

VAR, or Video Assistant Referee, is a groundbreaking technology in football. It is designed to assist referees by reviewing video footage to make accurate decisions. It focuses on checking goals, penalties, red cards, and mistaken identity, reducing errors in crucial situations.

Fabian explained that VAR was introduced to help referees with clear errors or serious issues. He added, “The VAR system offers many benefits, and I am confident it will improve the standard of refereeing and football across Oceania. Everyone is excited, but it’s not that simple. It’s too early to discuss a concrete date, as this process is long. We’ve just started.”
