OFC PRESIDENT PRAISE VANUATU FOR SUCCESSFUL 2023 OFC CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TOURNAMENT

Thursday, 1st June 2023 – The President of the Vanuatu Football Federation (VFF) and the President of OFC, Lambert Maltock, expresses his acknowledgment and gratitude towards the VFF Local Organizing Committee (LOC) in Luganville. He commends their exceptional organization and hosting of the four Group A teams of the OFC Champions League at the Soccer City Stadium.

Mr. Maltock equally acknowledges the remarkable work of the Port Vila LOC in hosting the Group B matches, as well as the semi-finals and grand final matches at the Fresh Water VFF Stadium.

“Despite the impact of two category 4 cyclones just two months ago, you have demonstrated incredible resourcefulness in Luganville, successfully hosting yet another outstanding OFC program,” President Maltock states.

“I extend my deepest appreciation to all members of the LOC, as well as other stakeholders, including the government and the local business community, for their fantastic collaboration and cooperation throughout the tournament.

“We have received congratulatory messages from our fellow members within the regional football family, and I urge all of us to continue our efforts in developing football and sports in general in our country. Let us further strengthen our national partnership and collaboration,” he adds.

“As the President of VFF, I can assure the Vanuatu football family that I have a strong team within the VFF Executive Committee, as well as our management and staff. While challenges are inherent in any organization, VFF is no exception. However, our teamwork is solid, and we value public opinions and contributions that contribute to the development of our young men, women, boys, and girls through football,” Mr. Maltock affirms.

“I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the football fans in Luganville and Port Vila for their unwavering support, making the game of football so attractive in Vanuatu, across the region, and globally. Without you, the entire program would not have witnessed the resounding success we all enjoyed. On behalf of OFC, VFF, and the two local organizing team, I extend a sincere ‘Tenkiu tumas’,” he concludes.

The Republic of Vanuatu successfully hosted the 2023 OFC Champions League from 14th to 27th May 2023.
