The centre stage for the Women’s Football League opening tournament grand final yesterday at the Korman Stadium has seen so much talents and big improvement in women’s football.
There was so much to talk about and for Angelina Poida it is one of her memorable moment in her football career, following in her father’s footsteps.
Angelina plays for Galaxy FC and is the daughter of Moise Poida the head coach for Galaxy Men’s team.
Her father Moise Poida is a well known midfielder who has made 21 appearance for the national team and in 2008 he played for an Oceanian representative side against a team that included members of France’s 1998 FIFA World Cup winning team which included players such as Zinedine Zidane, Christian Karembeu and Robert Pires.
At half-time yesterday, Angelina netted 2 goals for Galaxy FC giving her team the lead over Tupuji Imere FC and the additional 2 goals by her team mates in the second half for their team to win the 3rd prize trophy of the tournament presented by Donald Wanemut.
Onica and Nelly Kaltack

The final match between Erakor Golden Star and Benben United FC has exposed players like EGS captain Onica Kaltack and Nelly Kaltack again following in their brother’s footsteps.
Kaltack’s brothers, Jean, Tony, and Brian are footballers like their father, Ivoky, a well known former Vanuatu international footballer who played as a striker.
Onica and Nelly performed their best yesterday it’s no surprise to see them listed in the Vanuatu National side bound for 2019 OFC U-16 Women’s Championship in Tahiti in December.
After a hard fought game to the extra time, Benben FC came out the winners from the only goal through a free kick shot driven outside the yellow’s 10m line over the defenders, straight into the net out of the keeper’s reach.
Melissa Wakeret

Melissa Wakeret from Benben United FC grabs the most improved player award and the best goalkeeper and most improved team in the tournament goes to Tupuji Imere.
