President Maltock sponsors 2021 MFA Cup

Malampa Football Association (MFA) will be welcoming this week a new addition to its football calendar, the MFA Cup.

Already teams have been arriving at the Lizlitz Wharf over the weekend, from Paama and Ambrym Leagues.

“As you are all aware there is a competition coming up next week known as MFA Cup. This competition has been an ongoing competition initiated by me six years ago and has been sponsored principally by me. This MFA Cup is similar to the newly created Port Vila Football Association (PVFA) President’s Cup or the OFC President’s Cup once played in OFC some years ago,” Vanuatu Football and Malampa Football Association President, Lambert Maltock stated.

“The main purpose of this competition platform is to bring all selections of Ten (10) Area Leagues throughout Malampa Province in order to compete at the highest level so as to prepare for Province of Origin and/or any national event such as National League and National Games. This is the only opportunity to bring our best elite players around Malampa Province to come together and compete for some prestigious awards and titles to boost our football games and development.

“Therefore, this is to notify you all as a matter of transparency and declare publicly and officially that the Lakatoro Universal Shop of which I am the owner – has been and shall continue to be the major sponsor of this important competition into the future. Such a declaration has already been made to the last MFA AGM which was held recently (July) at Senal Church Hall Lakatoro, Malampa Province.

“On the same note, I wish to also declare that I am also the major sponsor of the United Malampa FC of PVFA and another United Malampa FC playing at South Efate League in Shefa Football Association. All my intentions were purely to promote football in our country as much as possible. This is again to declare my personal involvement in the development of football around the country which also include youth football development in Port-Vila which have been competing at the BSP tournament at Amicale Field.

“Since all the Provinces have very limited sponsorship – not like Port-Vila and Luganville, I took the initiative to help MFA on that for the best interest of football development in Malampa Province and our Country, specifically in rural communities.”

MFA Cup will be hosted at the Lakatoro Wilkins Stadium, starting from Wednesday 15th September 2021.
