Prince Albert II of Monaco Supports the 2024 OFC Nations Cup

The Chairman of the 2024 OFC Nations Cup Local Organising Committee (LOC), Harry Atisson, expresses gratitude for the generous support extended by the Prince of Monaco towards hosting the eleventh edition of the Oceania Football Nations Cup in Vanuatu.

According to the Minister of Finance and Economic Management, Mr. John Salong, who is currently overseas, the donation of 2.4 million vatu to the LOC was facilitated by Acting Minister of Finance and Minister for Climate Change, Mr. Ralph Regenvanu, through an arrangement between the Ministry of Finance and the Monaco Consul’s Office in Port Vila.

“Thanks to His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco through his Consul in Vanuatu, Hon Martin Saint Hilaire,” Minister Salong conveyed in a text message to Mr. Atisson.

Minister Salong further explained that the Monaco fund, initially earmarked for a different purpose and held in a trust account, could be allocated to support the major OFC footballing event after securing the Prince of Monaco’s consent for financial assistance.

“The LOC wholeheartedly welcomes and appreciates such generous support, with VFF facilitating our hosting of the OFC Nations Cup Tournament this year,” Atisson remarked.

Mr. Atisson extended thanks to the governments of Vanuatu and Monaco for their collaborative efforts in supporting the committee.

“We have reached out to our partners and stakeholders, soliciting financial assistance for the OFC event, and we are grateful for the positive responses received, especially from the government and the City Council of Port Vila,” he added.
