Recruitment: Strength & Conditioning Coach for VFF National Academy

The VFF National Academy is seeking a Strength & Conditioning Coach for the 2026 calendar year. This position is dedicated exclusively to the TDS pathway and will support three groups: the U14 Boys Residential Program, the U16 Boys Non-Residential Program, and the U14 Girls Program. The role plays a key part in developing elite youth players through structured physical conditioning and long-term athlete development principles.

The contract runs from January 15 to December 15, 2026, and the position is based at the VFF National Academy in Port Vila. The coach will report to the Head of the National Academy and the Technical Director.

The primary purpose of the role is to lead and deliver strength and conditioning programs that enhance performance, reduce injury risks, and support the physical growth of young athletes. Responsibilities for the U14 Boys Residential Program include delivering daily sessions integrated with football training, monitoring physical status and recovery, conducting regular fitness assessments, and working closely with medical staff on injury prevention and rehabilitation. For the U16 Boys Non-Residential Program, tasks include designing weekly training plans, conducting in-person training on designated days, providing remote guidance for off-site conditioning, and coordinating with school and club coaches to align development goals. Within the U14 Girls Program, the coach will deliver age-appropriate sessions focusing on movement fundamentals and injury prevention, build confidence and physical literacy, create an inclusive environment, and adjust programs to meet individual needs.

Program-wide duties include maintaining detailed performance and attendance records, collaborating with football coaches to ensure alignment between physical and technical objectives, educating players on nutrition and recovery habits, supporting match-day warm-ups and cooldowns, and participating in staff meetings and player reviews.

Key performance expectations include full delivery of all scheduled sessions, completion of fitness assessments at least three times per year, reduction of preventable injuries through proactive planning, positive feedback from players and coaching staff, and timely submission of monthly progress and wellness reports.

Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in sports science, exercise physiology, or a related field, along with a recognised S&C qualification such as CSCS. A minimum of two years’ experience working with youth athletes is required, preferably in football. Knowledge of LTAD principles, experience working with female athletes, and strong communication and organisational skills are also essential.

This role is exclusive to the 2026 TDS program, and weekend work will be required on match days. Accommodation support may be provided for residential program duties.
