Alex Saniel has joined the Vanuatu senior men’s soccer team, who are already in Fiji for the Tri-Nations Friendship Cup Tournament.
Saniel who plays for Suva FC, arrived at the Grand Melanesian Hotel in Namaka, Nadi, Saturday evening, in time to join the squad for dinner at 7.30pm.
Azaraia who also plays for Suva FC, cannot make the team as he has sustained a shoulder injury.
Meanwhile, the seven members, including Team Manager Carlo Nasse, who traveled via Brisbane, are expected to arrive in Nadi early Sunday morning.
Team Manager Nasse says two more players, namely Jordy Tassip and Joe Moses, will be traveling on the direct Vila – Nadi Fiji Airways flight on Monday afternoon.
“I don’t think they will be able to play in the first match on Monday afternoon”, Nasse says.
Vanuatu will play Fiji in the second match of Day 1 at 5pm on Monday 20 March.
Solomon Islands will play the Fiji U20 team in the opening match of the tournament earlier on Monday afternoon.
Team Vanuatu to the 2023 Friendship Cup Tournament comprise 22 players and 5 officials.
