Tafea province girls team have huge support from families

Tafea province U15 and U17 girls teams have huge backing from their families as they arrive into Port Vila to participate in the VFF National Youth League Championship at Teouma today.

With the objective of Vanuatu football to develop women football in the country, Tafea girls teams have prepared well, got blessing from their homes and will be ready to showcase their talent in the Southern zone competition.

U15 girls coach Takifu Namaha told Daily Post; “ We have very good support from their families they are happy because it’s the way forward for them.

“One day they will become good players,” Namaha said.

“ We have huge support from our province , the PO in the province- back us up in terms of finances.

“It’s really a challenge trying to get the girls in, trying to make the girls feel they are accepted in the community and the outcome is positive.”

The U15 tafea girls have prepared well and the team aims for the final spot in Santo.

“ Our preparation was good in Tanna, we managed to compete in certain competition to prepare the girls

“I believe we will make it through to the final in Santo,” he added.

Vanuatu Football Federation has engaged schools to accommodate all the 160 boys and 160 girls with a total of 8 officials with mostly C License certification coaches and are trained teachers, accompanying the youths.

In Port Vila, VFF has organised land transport, food and other logistics to ensure players are in form to compete in the tournament and is crucial for the National Team coaches to assess players and select the next intake of the National Football Academy.

The Northern Region preliminary stage will be played from 25-27 November at the Luganville Soccer City Stadium.
