Tanna Independence cup knockout starts today

The West Tanna Football League in the Tafea Football Association (TFA) have started their Independence Cup tournament today 10 July at Lamenu Stadium in Tanna.

Ten teams are competing in a week of the knockout stage set at two different venues, the Lamenu Stadium and Namaka Stadium on West Tanna.

Former Vanuatu champion Nalkutan FC are also participating in the tournament with well known VFF National Super League contenders like Medic FC and LL Echo.

The winner of West Tanna league will play the winner from South West and East Tanna and Niprantada before the final showdown on 30th July to determine the Tanna Island 2020 Independence Cup Champion.

TFA and West Tanna League is the first rural MA and League apart from the urban Port Vila and Luganville to manage their soccer event using the newly introduced OFC COMET application system.

“We are trialing the system too today with our league referees following recent training we undertook in Port Vila with the Vanuatu Football Federation at the Teouma Academy”,  Anthony Kalia explained.

Kalia is the TFA administrator and he hopes to achieve a lot from the technology.
