Vanuatu’s U19 girls’ team have secured a spot in the quarter-finals despite facing tough competition after losing two of their last matches.
The team began their campaign with an impressive 5-0 victory over Tonga, but faced defeats against New Caledonia (1-4) and Samoa (2-3). However, their goal difference in the tournament has led them to qualify for the quarter-finals.

In the upcoming quarter-finals, defending champions New Zealand will face the winners of Group B, while the Group C runner-up, Solomon Islands, will take on the winners of Group C, Cook Islands. Vanuatu will compete against Cook Islands in what promises to be an exciting match on Sunday night.
Expressing gratitude in a heartfelt letter, Shedrack Obed, the Head of Delegation for the U19 girls’ team, thanked every citizen for their support and prayers. The team, currently competing in Fiji, completed their pool games with one victory and two losses, securing the seventh position as the best runner-up team in the tournament.

As they prepare for the quarter-final match on Sunday 2nd July, the team is fully focused and leaving no stone unturned in their preparations.
This morning, the girls departed from Nadi, where they had been playing the group matches at Churchill Park in Lautoka. They are now en route to Suva, where the remaining matches, including the quarterfinals, semifinals, and final, will take place.
