Vanuatu FC Renamed “Vanuatu United FC” to Represent the Whole Nation

Vanuatu FC Announces Name Change to Vanuatu United FC

Port Vila, Vanuatu – 11 September 2025 – Vanuatu’s professional football club has announced an important development in its journey: the club will now be called Vanuatu United FC. This name change reflects the club’s ambition to represent the entire nation of Vanuatu, uniting football fans from all islands under one banner.

Christian Happel, General Manager of Vanuatu United FC, confirmed the decision and explained the reasoning behind it: “We want to be a football club for the whole of Vanuatu, and this should be reflected in our name. Football is the people’s game, and our club belongs to the nation — not just one city or island. ‘Vanuatu United FC’ embodies our mission of unity, pride, and progress in football for this country.”

Along with the new name, the club will proudly adopt the nickname “The Chiefs.” This identity pays tribute to one of the most significant institutions in Vanuatu culture.

“Chiefs are symbols of leadership, respect, and responsibility — values that we aim to instill in our team and in the way we represent Vanuatu,” Happel continued. “Just as Chiefs lead with wisdom and protect their communities, we want our club to inspire, unite, and strengthen the football family across the islands.”

The unveiling of a new club logo is scheduled to take place soon, showcasing Vanuatu United FC’s fresh identity as it prepares for future challenges, both on and off the pitch.

This strategic rebranding underscores Vanuatu United FC’s ambition to grow as a professional football institution, bringing pride to fans nationwide and carrying the spirit of Vanuatu onto the regional and international stage.
