Port Vila, 18 July 2023 – The Vanuatu Football Federation Media wishes to clarify the recent concerns raised on social media platforms regarding four students from Lycee de Luganville who participated and flew the national flag at the recent OFC under 19 tournament in Fiji. The Vanuatu Football Federation (VFF) recognizes and holds immense respect for schools and parents, who are the primary stakeholders in the development of youth and women’s soccer in Vanuatu. It is unfortunate that such an issue has arisen; however, the Vanuatu Football Federation is committed to working closely with the school board to resolve the matter.
VFF is taking steps to improve working relationships and communication with schools and parents, simultaneously ensuring that VFF policies, which support, inspire, and promote the development of women’s football around the country, are fulfilled. These steps include establishing better collaboration in the implementation of the decentralization of football in the country and encouraging and building trust among the primary stakeholders, who are schools and parents.
VFF reiterates that it is the Federation’s objective to maintain good football standards and protect football interests in Vanuatu, including promoting the game of football in the country in the spirit of peace, understanding, and fair play without discrimination, and advancing friendly relations in all its activities.
