In a significant step towards nurturing young football talent, the Vanuatu Football Federation (VFF) has commenced the youth development program tailored for children aged 9 to 14 at Freshwater Stadium this morning. This initiative, funded by FIFA, aims to introduce kids to the intricacies of football and foster their passion for the sport. The VFF coaching team will be at the helm of this program, ensuring its seamless execution.
Leading the charge for this exciting venture is Vanuatu’s Brazilian coach, Emerson Alcantara, who brings his expertise to the forefront of the kids’ development program. Assisting him are VFF Head Coach Etienne Mermer and other dedicated VFF coaches. The program is set to take place every Saturday morning from 8 to 10 am.
Today signifies the start of the program’s inaugural session, with more than 40 enthusiastic children taking part. Guiding them is Coach Emerson, who is also engaged with the national team. His evident dedication to nurturing young talents resonated as he imparted his knowledge and enthusiasm to the eager participants.
This initiative not only underscores VFF’s commitment to grassroots football development but also offers a glimpse of the potential future stars that may emerge from such programs, like Brian Kaltak. The enthusiasm and participation of the young attendees on this first day indicate a promising journey ahead for Vanuatu’s football landscape.
