Port Vila, 5th April 2023 – Vanuatu is set to make its mark in the inaugural Melanesian Futsal Cup Tournament held in Fiji. A team comprising twelve skilled players and six dedicated officials will embark on their journey this weekend, ready to showcase their talent at the Suva Vodafone Arena starting from Wednesday, 12th April.
Led by Head Coach Ben Hungai, the Vanuatu “Gideons Team” consists of eight experienced players who have previously represented the nation in futsal competitions. Additionally, four promising new players have been selected to join the seasoned team, eager to make their mark in their first appearance at the national futsal squad.
While five Gideons players will continue training in preparation for the team’s return on 18th April 2023, their focus remains unwavering as they gear up for the OFC WC Qualifier later this year in Auckland, New Zealand.
Coach Ben expresses gratitude to the Almighty for their journey, emphasizing their commitment to uplift His name and inspire others through their passion for futsal. The team’s mission is clear – to compete fiercely and glorify God in every aspect of their performance.
As Vanuatu proudly represents the nation in the Melanesian Futsal Cup, the entire country stands united, offering support and best wishes to the Gideons Team.
