VANUATU WILL PLAY NEW ZEALAND ON SUNDAY

(Suva) – Vanuatu will play New Zealand in the quarter-finals of the 2023 OFC U17 Championships being played in Suva, Fiji.

According to the format that is used in this youth tournament, all the eight teams that made through to the first knock-out stage, went to a draw to find out who plays who.

In the process, the four teams that finished top in the rankings were drawn from a box, while the other four who finished runners-up and or best losers were drawn from a second box.

Accordingly, New Zealand were drawn to play Vanuatu in the fourth quarter-final match at 7pm Sunday 22 January.

In the other quarter-final match draws, New Caledonia will play Samoa at 4pm on Saturday 21 January, and Tahiti will play Tonga in the second quarter-final match at 7pm.

On Sunday 22 January, Fiji will play Cook Islands at 4pm, and New Zealand will play Vanuatu at 7pm.

The winners will advance into the semi-finals, which are schedule for Wednesday 25 January, and the finals will be played on Saturday 28 January.
