VFF Acknowledges and Welcomes Support from Leaders and Stakeholders in Youth Football Development

Media Release

The Vanuatu Football Federation (VFF) extends its sincere gratitude to the parents, community leaders, national leaders, and all stakeholders who have shown proactive support and cooperative gestures in fostering the development of Vanuatu’s youth through football.

As with other national football federations, VFF receives development funds from the global governing body of football, FIFA, via the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC). These funds are primarily designated for specific projects within our local development programs, which include competitions at local, national, and regional levels.

In addition to these funds, VFF, through its national structure, actively seeks community and stakeholder support to raise additional resources for organizing local and national competitions. It is crucial to recognize that, similar to major sporting events such as the FIFA World Cup and the Olympic Games, the invaluable contributions of volunteers and the collaborative efforts of stakeholders are vital to the success of these events.

We are particularly grateful for the proactive support from Hon. Jotham Napat, one of the seven Members of Parliament for Tafea Province, towards the Tafea Province Champions Club, Classic Kapalpal FC. VFF remains committed to promoting understanding and adherence to its national governance structure in accordance with FIFA statutes. With its headquarters at VFF Haus in Port Vila, VFF is represented across Vanuatu through its six provincial associations (Torba FA, Sanma FA, Penama FA, Malampa FA, Shefa FA, and Tafea FA) and two urban associations (Port Vila FA and Luganville FA). When a local club advances to the national football championship, it represents its province rather than its league.

VFF encourages communities and stakeholders in the provinces to support their respective provincial FA’s. We also urge provincial FA leaders to actively engage with their communities and stakeholders. Ultimately, we are all working together to develop and train our youth through football. VFF calls on all citizens and residents of Vanuatu to acknowledge that we are a developing nation. Creating a genuine, respectful, and united environment is essential for advancing our national human resource development.

VFF values and respects the views and opinions of society members. Like all community organizations, we face challenges. Nevertheless, we remain committed to resolving internal issues through the governance structure and statutes of FIFA, of which we are an affiliate.
