VFF plans to host first ever VFF Women champions league in October

The Vanuatu Football Federation (VFF) is awaiting Oceania Football Confederation (OFC)’s confirmation before the first-ever women National championships kicks off in the country.

VFF Competition Manager, Bong Shem confirmed that the VFF Women Champions League will take place on the 7th-16th of October in Luganville, Santo.

Mr Shem confirmed that the upcoming tournament will feature only champion clubs from each province representative plus the two Municipalities to compete in this first edition.

He said that a total of 8 teams will battle out for the VFF women championship title 2021 with four teams yet to be drawn to their respective pools.

The event is scheduled for the mentioned date due to the FIFA window period.

With OFC Women’s Football recently launching its women strategy, such avenue coincides with its agenda in claiming two spots in the upcoming 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

In accordance to the agenda, women’s league throughout Vanuatu are reviving in meeting the OFC’s women football target.

Early this year, the first edition of the VFF women’s National Championship took place in Port Vila. Now VFF will be hosting its women champions league as well.
