VFF PROVIDES GENEROUS SUPPORT TO IFIRA BLACK BIRDS AHEAD OF OFC CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

Ifira Black Birds, the reigning champions of Vanuatu, received a significant boost today as the Vanuatu Football Federation (VFF) provided them with one million vatu in support. This generous contribution comes as Ifira Black Birds prepare for their debut appearance in the upcoming OFC Champions League tournament.

Vanuatu is proudly hosting the 2023 OFC Champions League in May, and Ifira Black Birds have been drawn into Group B. The group consists of Hekari United from Papua New Guinea, AS Pirae from Tahiti, and Tiga Sport from New Caledonia. The matches will be held at the VFF Fresh Water Stadium in Port Vila and Luganville Soccer City Stadium.

During a ceremony at the VFF Haus, VFF President Lambert Maltock handed over the one million vatu cheque to IBB President Manu Laban. President Maltock expressed the federation’s joy in supporting a team that not only enters the OFC Champions League for the first time but also embodies the spirit of support that they value.

President Maltock extended his gratitude to the Ifira Community, the Ifira Stevedoring company, other businesses, and the fans for their unwavering support. He assured the team’s management that the VFF would continue to provide support throughout the OFC tournament. VFF Coach Robert Yelou’s involvement with Ifira Black Birds in both their local PVFA Championship and the national champions league was highlighted as part of the VFF’s commitment to the team’s development.

Club President Manu Laban expressed his gratitude to the VFF, emphasizing that the funds would assist in their overseas preparations. Laban acknowledged the responsibility of Ifira Black Birds in representing Vanuatu Football and pledged their utmost dedication to the upcoming OFC tournament.

PVFA President Harry Atisson, also present at the event, thanked the VFF for their support and assured President Maltock of PVFA’s collaboration in the team’s preparations and participation in the competition.
